Light, Dark Matter & the Shared Medium

Status of this document. This is a coherent derivation from the Law of Equalization (LoE), developed in dialogue. It traces three topics previously treated separately — light, dark matter, and "gravitational waves" — back to a common picture. Where the LoE contradicts established physics, this is stated openly; the decisive falsifiable test point comes at the end. The document explains why something is the way it is — it supplies no formulas, but the underlying mechanics.


1. The Starting Point: A Wave Is Never a Thing

A wave is never an entity of its own. It is energy moving through matter — and nothing else. Neither can exist without the other. A wave is always the displacement or expansion of matter while energy travels through it. This holds without exception:

  • Sound — energy travels through the matter of the atmospheric gases.
  • Water wave — energy travels through water.
  • Fist in the jelly — energy travels through the gel.
  • Light — energy travels through the matter photons.

The principle is identical everywhere: energy in, matter must react when the energy travels through it. Period.

From this it follows necessarily: if "light" is a wave, then light is not the wave itself — it is the medium through which the wave runs. The wave is the manifestation of the motion, not the thing that moves.


2. Matter Is Not a Pipe — It Is a Chain of Packets

Energy does not flow through one continuous pipe. Matter consists of many packets with an entrance and an exit. Inside each packet, small messengers take up the energy and carry it to the exit — that costs time. Only there is it handed over to the next packet.

From this follows conductivity as a material property:

  • How well a substance passes energy along depends on how willingly its packets hand it over and how many packets are present.
  • Photons are an excellent conductor — they barely interact, they "wave the energy through." On Earth, copper is the counterpart.
  • Glass is the conductor within the conductor: inside it, photons have an almost free path. This is precisely why fiber-optic cables are replacing copper — and soon optical chips as well: to move the charge from A to B faster.

Important consequence: the speed of light is therefore not an absolute speed limit for energy as such. It is the transit rate of this one medium (photons). In denser matter, energy travels more slowly (light in glass ~200,000 km/s, slower still in water). On other, higher scales, energy can also move faster. "c" is a material constant, not a limit of the world.


3. The Resolution of Wave-Particle Duality

Physics puzzles to this day over whether light is particle or wave, and calls the problem "wave-particle duality." In the LoE this dissolves, because two things are taken for one:

  • The particles are the photons (or their packet messengers) — the matter that transmits the energy.
  • The wave is the transmission itself. As with a delivery service: the truck delivers, drives back empty, delivers again. Out of this timed back-and-forth a wave arises.

Before and after the passage of the energy, the photons are invisible and unmeasurable to us — because they produce no interpretable energy signature (see Section 5). We perceive them only in the moment in which the energy travels through them. This is how the illusion arose that "light" or "the photons" are the wave itself.

There is no duality. There is a medium (particles) and a motion through this medium (wave).


4. Describers Are Not Scientists

An astrologer can determine a personality astonishingly accurately, and can even say how someone will be doing in the coming weeks. But can he explain why? No. He has studied symptoms, not the mechanism behind them.

Today's physics stands at exactly that point in several places:

  • It calls it "superposition" and "quantum entanglement" when a piece of information is apparently in two places at once — but it does not explain why.
  • It calls it "wave-particle duality" in the case of light — a label for a phenomenon, not an explanation.

These are names for the that, not for the why. Effects can be calculated without understanding what one is seeing. And as long as one does not need the definition, that is entirely sufficient to work with.

The problem begins only one level higher. Anyone who wants to get from the symptoms to the underlying mechanics is no longer served by measurements and findings — for that it takes the basic knowledge of what is really happening.


5. Why Dark Matter Is Invisible — from the Architecture of Perception

Here the LoE supplies no theory of why matter can be invisible, but a derivation from the way our senses work.

All sensory organs and all measuring instruments draw their information from energy. More precisely: from the energy signature that the energy carries with it — like a barcode or QR code that we and our devices read out.

This signature arises according to a fixed mechanics:

  1. Energy receives its signature always the moment it comes into contact with matter — penetrating into it and emerging again.
  2. It retains this signature until it meets the next matter.
  3. When energy-in-matter meets energy-in-matter, energy dominates energy takes hold — an interaction occurs, and we get a response.

So-called dark matter does NOT interact along precisely this path. It does not imprint the energy. We therefore receive no response from this form of matter — the energy comes back to us without information. The invisibility thus sits not in the object, but in the read-out mechanism: we can read barcoded energy and nothing else.

The Ghost-and-Bedsheet Principle. We cannot see the ghost, but we can see the sheet over it — its manifestation. Dark matter itself remains hidden; what becomes visible is only what it triggers in our matter.

A further consequence: a signature retained for a very long time means that the energy of a distant object carries the last information of the matter it most recently met — even if that was a planet millions or billions of kilometers or light-years away. The journey through the thin cosmos adds no imprint, because what is traversed does not imprint.

Dark Matter Is a Collective Term

Dark matter is not one exotic single thing, but a group. It comprises all forms of matter that do interact with energy but are not imprinted by it the way the visible matter familiar to us is.

  • Photons and neutrinos are two representatives of this group — ones we already know.
  • There may be thousands more. If we see no sheet over them, we do not notice them.

The universe is full of this matter. That is precisely why energy needs this "substitute medium": it moves on higher scales that we cannot see.

The Dust Particle in the Carpet Mesh. A grain of dust flying through a mesh takes the carpet to be "the matter" and everything around it to be "nothing." But there is not nothing — it simply does not see it. We are this grain of dust in a structure far larger than our perception.


6. "Parallel Universe" — Not Beside Us, but Within Us

Some speak of a parallel universe. One could say that it exists — but not parallel to us, rather within us, in the same space.

That is why photons and neutrinos can pass through us: they do not go through a wall — they never hit our wall. It is coexistence instead of collision. Different forms of matter share the same space without interacting with one another.

And energy can switch between these levels. That is the handover point at which "dark" becomes "visible" for a moment — namely precisely when the energy passes over to our matter and imprints it.


7. "Gravitational Waves" Are Matter Waves

With this picture, the so-called gravitational waves dissolve as well. They are not gravitational waves in the classical sense — because there is no gravitation as attraction (see → Gravitation as Pressure Equalization). They are matter waves.

The mechanism:

  1. A black hole is an underloaded system (see → Black Holes / Dark Suns). It emits no energy signature of its own — hence "dark."
  2. A large action at such a system (e.g. a merger) emits no energy as a signature, but it does influence the surrounding matter.
  3. Since energy dominates energy holds and energy sets the direction of motion, a wave through the surrounding matter is set in motion — as with any motion.
  4. Without matter and energy, no wave: the "gravitational wave" is the displacement of that matter through which the energy travels.

Once again we see only the sheet — the manifestation in the matter that we can measure — not the "ghost" (the underloaded system itself).


8. The Honest Comparison with Established Physics

The LoE picture is internally consistent: light, dark matter, and "gravitational waves" follow a single principle across all scales. That is precisely its strength. Where it contradicts today's physics, however, this must be named clearly:

The Hardest Objection — and Its Resolution in the LoE

The sharpest objection from established physics runs: why do light AND "gravitational waves" travel at exactly the same speed c? (In 2017, the light and the "gravitational wave" of a neutron-star event arrived within ~1.7 seconds of each other after ~130 million light-years.) If these were two different media, this agreement would be an inexplicable coincidence.

The LoE resolution turns the objection into a confirmation: these are not two media. It is one continuous, largely invisible matter medium, of which we have so far catalogued only two members (photons, neutrinos). One wave, one carrier, one rate — the identical speed is then no coincidence, but necessary. The question "two media, why equally fast?" is thereby the wrong question.


9. The Falsifiable Test Point

Science in the sense of the LoE demands: a statement turns from a mere explanation into testable knowledge only when it could fail. Here the open flank is named honestly:

The statement "there may be thousands of invisible kinds of matter, we simply do not see them" explains every finding — and is therefore, for now, not falsifiable. The mainstream has an advantage here: its dark-matter candidates produce numbers (expected detector rates, scattering cross-sections) and can fail (every empty detector is a failure).

The task, in order to turn the LoE chapter into real, testable knowledge:

Find ONE observation that the signature model predicts and the particle model does not — or vice versa.

One concrete approach: if "long-retained signature" holds true (energy retains the last imprint until it meets new matter, possibly across millions of light-years), there would have to be a measurable difference between energy that ran through much dark matter and energy that ran through little — some residual effect that makes the model distinguishable from "imprints nothing at all." If such a point is found, the irrefutable explanation becomes a verifiable one.


10. Placement within the Process of Knowledge

This derivation is the work of the scientist in the LoE sense (see → Theorist · Researcher · Scientist): it takes the finished "puzzle sections" of the researchers (measured speed of light, double slit, entanglement, gravitational-wave signals, dark-matter findings) and uses the LoE template to check whether they fit together logically. Where the template fits, everything is coherent. Where it does not fit (Section 9), the next step of thinking lies — and that is exactly where the work continues, as soon as the researchers deliver the necessary input.
